Do I need a garage door seal?
Garage door seals are there for a variety of reasons: to keep pests such as mice, squirrels, or other small animals out of your garage (and thus, your home!), to limit or stop rain from entering your garage, and to provide a barrier against heat and air conditioning loss by offering an extra buffer against the outside weather. When your garage door seal is not functioning properly, you may find that you’re getting more bugs into your home as well, and wonder where they came from. They probably came in right under your garage door through the faulty seal!
While an insulated door will help you keep some of the weather at bay, a fully functioning garage door seal can make a big difference. However, if you’re not sealing the door correctly, you can cause additional problems and potentially even throw your door out of alignment if the seal is not even.
